A new tasting format at Nikolaihof in Mautern: six pairings of Wachau restaurants and wineries take Heuriger cooking a step further.

At “Der Morgige”, guests move from station to station over one afternoon. Each station pairs a restaurant with a winery and serves a newly imagined Heuriger dish with a wine or an alcohol-free alternative. According to the organiser, the pairings are Landhaus Bacher and Brustbauer, Landgasthaus Essl and Rehrl-Fischer, Weißes Rössl and Christoph Donabaum, Hofmeisterei Hirtzberger and Schmidl, JOLA Wien and Adam-Mühle, and the Weinstube at Nikolaihof with Pöchlinger, plus additional winemakers’ tables.

Why this date is interesting
Nikolaihof is just around the corner from us in Mautern, and we like the idea behind this: Heuriger culture not as a museum piece but taken further, by local businesses you rarely get to experience side by side in one afternoon. If you want to see where food and wine in the Wachau are heading, this is a good occasion.

How the event fits the region
According to the organiser, on Sunday 8 November 2026 from 1 pm to 7 pm, with food served until 4 pm. Tickets cost 97 euros via ticketladen.at and include an aperitif, six dishes and the drinks pairing. A combined ticket with the Natural Kamptal natural-wine tasting on the previous day has also been announced. The ticket provider partly lists different times, so please check ticket and admission times directly with them.
