According to the organiser, the evening begins with a reception in the castle courtyard before the new vintage is christened and blessed in the cellar of Schloss Gobelsburg, with the abbot of Zwettl Abbey announced for the blessing. Afterwards a wine bar pours the first wines of the new vintage along with older rarities.

Why this date is interesting

For us, this date fits the history of the Kamptal particularly well: Zwettl Abbey has owned vineyards on the Heiligenstein since 1171, and Schloss Gobelsburg has belonged to the abbey since 1740. A wine christening right there connects the present and the region’s origins quite directly.
